This confirms what I have believed for years, both sides of politics insult the Australian people by catering to greed. Australians are not the greedy B****s that politicians believe we are. The greedy ones are the 1% who get the most and then pressure the politicians to cut there taxes.
I have said it for years and will continue to say it: a fairer, and more effective market based social democracy model has been working in the Nordic countries for decades - it's high time we learnt some lessons. Yes a high tax to GDP ratio but high incomes per capita, very high Human Development Index rating, comparatively unscathed by Euro debt crisis, free and highest quality education and health services, lowest inequality in Europe (along with low crime rates), and still the most generous overseas aid donors in the world. What's not to like?

ReplyDeleteHi Jim -Thanks for your feedback. I agree that the "policy debate" has focused on the desires of the 1% not the majority. Richard Denniss
